Dr Alvin Tan

Dr Alvin Tan

Dr Alvin Tan is a consultant medical oncologist at Waikato Hospital and also practices in private at SalutisCare. He is the current Head of Department for Medical Oncology at Waikato Hospital and previous Chair of the Aotearoa New Zealand Advanced Training Subcommittee for Medical Oncology for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (2023/2024). He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (2006) at the University of Otago, Dunedin. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2014, having trained in medical oncology at Auckland City Hospital where he developed particular interest in genitourinary cancers and participation in oncology clinical trials. He is the primary site investigator for a number of collaborative oncology trials being conducted at Waikato Hospital, and has previously participated in the 2016 Australia and Asia Pacific Clinical Oncology Research Development (ACORD) Workshop. .. read more »

Dr Catherine Han

Dr Catherine Han

Dr Catherine Han is a New Zealand trained Medical Oncologist with a special interest in gastro-intestinal, breast and brain cancers. She also has a great interest in cancer molecular profiling and genomics, personalised cancer treatments, and neurological complications of cancer drugs. She is a recipient of several prizes and scholarships. Her cancer research work on oxaliplatin-induced neurotoxicity has resulted in the overall Excellence in Health Research top award for the Auckland District Health Board for 2014, and the Fred Fastier Trust prize for the best oral research presentation at the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT) 2013 annual meeting.
