This article provides an overview of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination hesitancy in NZ. The impact of vaccination hesitancy is discussed and current HPV vaccination uptake rates are reported. The article considers healthcare provider, parental, and patient vaccination hesitancy in the context of a funded national HPV vaccination programme. Proposed strategies to overcome vaccination hesitancy, with the aim of increasing vaccination uptake rates, are also discussed.
